We needed crowd control; police barriers: Meryl Streep on Prada 2 shoot
India, March 29 -- T
he Devil Wears Prada, first released in 2006, has since attained cult status worldwide. Its much-anticipated sequel is set to release in theatres on May 1, with Meryl Streep returning as Runway editor Miranda Priestly, alongside Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
Opening up about the shoot to Harper's Bazaar, Streep described the overwhelming fan response: "Even though we knew the impact of the first film, none of us were prepared for the level of attention. Hathaway recalled a moment when her heel broke mid-scene, causing her to fall down a few steps. She quickly recovered, smiling and reassuring everyone. "I was aware I was falling, and that I was being photographed," she said.
The original film, based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel, followed a young woman navigating a demanding fashion magazine job. It went on to earn $326.7 million worldwide and fetched Streep a Golden Globe, along with an Oscar nomination.
The sequel reunites the core team, including director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, while introducing new cast members such as Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu and B.J. Novak, among others. htc...
