India, Feb. 28 -- After months of speculation, actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna got married on February 26 in Udaipur in a closely guarded ceremony. From mehendi to alta, symbolism quietly shaped the mood of the day. Rashmika's mehendi was not built around trends or heavy coverage. Instead, it told a story. Her mehendi artist Sona Mistry tells us, "On the front of her hands, we incorporated the symbol of Goddess Lakshmi and the Om symbol, representing the sacred union of Shiv and Shakti. Faith, language and identity were quite literally in her hands, notes Mistry. One of the more talked-about moments was Vijay's alta ceremony, performed, according to our sources, amid the greenery of the Udaipur venue, in the morning. Traditionally associated with brides, alta, the red dye applied to hands and feet, marked his transition into married life. "The Alta ceremony is a sacred ritual where a red dye known as alta is applied, symbolising his transition into the auspicious role of a groom. The red colour represents prosperity, purity and divine blessings, and is believed to invoke positive energy while protecting the couple as they enter a new phase of life," says Mistry....
