Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce paid over Rs.1.52 crore for wedding permits: NYC Mayor Mamdani
India, July 12 -- A section of New Yorkers and social media users had criticised pop star Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce for their wedding at New York's Madison Square Garden (MSG), one of the busiest streets, on American Independence Day on July 4.
Now, the city's mayor Zohran Mamdani has said that the singer paid to cover the additional costs. As per Rolling Stone, a reporter asked the mayor at a press conference on Friday: "Could you confirm that Taylor Swift will be paying the city back any and all money for police overtime, and if so, how much and to whom?"
Mamdani said, "Taylor has already paid the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 (Rs.1.52 crore) for that event and for the response to that event. That was a permit that was finalised just days before the event."
The couple reportedly also donated $26 million (approx Rs.250 crore) across 20 charities in the US.
The couple reportedly spent $30 million or more on the wedding, converting MSG into a lush secret garden. Actor Adam Sandler officiated the wedding, which had about 1,000 guests. htc...
