India, Sept. 27 -- Sometimes, showing off your wealth online can come with an unexpected audience. This time it cost a couple from Kanyakumari around Rs.1 crore. A YouTuber couple in Tamil Nadu appears to have learnt that lesson the hard way after flaunting their cash, gold jewellery and valuables in their puja room on social media. Soon after, their house was allegedly broken into and valuables stolen, turning their online money and gold flex into an invitation for thieves! The robbery took place on Thursday at the home of popular YouTuber couple Vinod Kumar and Madhumita, who live in VIP Garden at Thammattukonam near Nagercoil, Kanyakumari. The couple had recently shared short videos boasting newly purchased gold ornaments and savings kept at home. In one video, Madhumita, who has 43.2K subscribers on YouTube, reportedly showed off the wealth stored in the puja room. She had also posted videos of anointing their baby with currency notes. According to the police, the thieves may have watched the videos, kept an eye on the house and broke in when the couple was away. The burglars reportedly made off with 118 pieces of gold jewellery estimated to be worth around Rs.1 crore, along with cash. The couple alerted the police after discovering the break-in. The Rajagamangalam police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage and phone-call details are among the clues being examined as investigators try to trace the culprits. For now, the incident is an uncomfortable reminder of the internet's biggest downside: once you put something online, you never really know who is watching.
