India, June 20 -- Actor Sonali Bendre was recently seen in the investigative thriller series Raakh, based on the 1978 Ranga-Billa case that shocked Delhi. The series revisits the abduction and murder of two siblings. Bendre plays a grieving mother struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss of her teenage children. Now, she has revealed that she "wasn't open" to taking up a project like this, saying that she had been avoiding dark and emotionally heavy roles after her cancer treatment. The 51-year-old, who survived stage-4 metastatic cancer and was declared cancer-free in 2021, resumed work in 2022 as a judge on DID Li'l Masters. "I really wanted to play hopeful and lighter roles that would've kept me happy through (shooting). I didn't want work that would trigger me and make me spiral," she told News18. Her 2001 comedy Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega became the benchmark for new projects."The amount of fun Saif (Ali Khan, co-star) and I had shooting for it! The energy was great on set." However, with Raakh, Bendre felt the story needed to be told, despite her limited screen time. "It's not the length I like. I would've loved to see more of me in the series. But if I was this age in the '90s when I had started out, I wouldn't have gotten the roles I'm getting today. That's why I say I'm in a good space."htc...
