India, Sept. 1 -- Sandeep Khosla, part of designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, recently addressed actor Urvashi Rautela's Cannes 2026 ivory-gold saree look, which drew criticism for resembling their creation worn by supermodel Gigi Hadid at the 2023 Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre opening in Mumbai. Commenting on Rautela's look, Khosla told NDTV. "Firstly, Urvashi is wearing an exact copy of our garment without a thought. Either she has no exposure, or she has too much exposure. And then, the person (influencer who made a video on where to get exact copies of original outfits) is actually encouraging the copies to happen." Hadid's hand-embroidered original reportedly took nearly a year to create, while Rautela's version was designed by Mihir Designer Studio and was labelled a "gandi copy" by fashion commentators online. The designer further urged: "If you want to plagiarise and copy, make a better version of what we are doing."
