Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi to now release in 2027?
India, July 14 -- Actor Salman Khan's highly anticipated Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, originally titled Battle of Galwan, may now be pushed to 2027 amid production setbacks and reported clearance concerns.
The Apoorva Lakhia directorial is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between India and China. As per Bollywood Hungama, the Ministry of Defence has reservations about the film's content and references to China amid improving ties between the countries.
"The issues are yet to be resolved. Even if they are resolved soon, it will now be difficult to secure a good release slot, as most major dates have already been taken," a source told the portal, adding that the makers are still eyeing the Dussehra window. "Dussehra falls on Tuesday, October 20, this year... Maatrubhumi could benefit from an extended five-day weekend of sorts. Ramayana is expected to be preponed to October 30. After that, no major release is scheduled until the last week of November, which could also work in (its) favour."
The film has already undergone significant changes, including a change in title from Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi. The project also suffered a setback following the death of actor-singer Prashant Tamang, who was reportedly playing the principal antagonist. Several key scenes remained unfinished, forcing the team to consider restructuring portions of the story.
The film, co-starring Chitrangda Singh, was originally scheduled to release on April 17. If the hurdles persist, it could now hit the theatres next year. htc...
