RM's military shopping story has the internet laughing
India, May 23 -- BTS member RM has shared a bizarre anecdote from his military training days, revealing how lending his credit card to fellow recruits landed him in trouble with his company commander.
Speaking during a livestream on Weverse, operated by HYBE, the BTS leader recalled allowing trainees from another platoon to use his card to buy snacks from the military post exchange during boot camp. However, the recruits reportedly ended up spending 660,000 won (nearly Rs.42,000), purchasing more than 100 items, including skincare products like snail cream.
According to RM, the unusually large transaction was enough to crash the store's billing system, reportedly marking the first such incident at a Korean army boot camp. The purchase soon caught the attention of the company commander, who called RM and the trainees in for questioning.
RM said he initially insisted he had only asked the recruits to buy snacks. It was later revealed that many of the skincare and health products had been bought to send home to their mothers. While the trainees later apologised, RM joked that the snail cream purchases had still gone "a bit overboard".
The livestream arrives during a packed phase for BTS. The group released its fifth studio album, ARIRANG, on March 20, marking its first full-length album in nearly four years following the members' military service hiatus.
