Mbappe slams Paraguayan senator over racist remark, she hits back
India, July 8 -- France captain Kylian Mbappe and Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla have been embroiled in a social media spat after France's World Cup win over Paraguay on Saturday.
After Amarilla's lengthy tirade on X, describing the footballer as a "colonised Cameroonian, desperately trying to pass himself off as French," and as a "brute" who had not learnt to write, Mbappe hit back, calling the political leader a "despicable woman" unworthy of serving in Paraguay's Congress, adding that her "brazen racism" had overshadowed her country's historic World Cup campaign.
Now, Amarilla has hit back. She deleted her posts and posted an open letter on Monday, expressing regret for the insults, insisting her criticism was directed at Mbappe rather than France. She also demanded an apology from the footballer, accusing him of gender-based violence and threatening legal action if he did not retract them. "Who are you to call me unworthy or despicable when you don't even know me? Pure and simple gender violence!
