Madras HC dismisses Tamannaah's Rs.1 crore case against soap brand
India, April 17 -- Actor Tamannaah Bhatia's case seeking damages of Rs.1 crore from Power Soaps Limited was dismissed by the Madras High Court on Thursday.
The controversy dates back to 2008 when Tamannaah signed an endorsement deal with the Puducherry-based brand, allowing the company to use her photos for one year till October 2009. However, Tamannaah alleged that the company continued using her images on product wrappers and in advertisements even in 2010 and 2011 without her consent.
She had first filed a civil suit in 2011, which was dismissed by a single judge of the High Court in 2017. Tamannaah challenged the dismissal by filing an appeal before a division bench of the High Court, which was also rejected.
In her suit, the actor has claimed that this came to her notice in 2010, when she was negotiating a brand endorsement deal with another company. Meanwhile, Power Soaps denied all allegations.
