K-pop star Jackson Wang's parentsare Olympians
India, June 23 -- As the world marks Olympic Day today, here's a sporting fact about singer and member of South Korean boy band GOT7, Jackson Wang. The Hong Kong-born artiste comes from a family of Olympians. His father, Wang Ruiji, represented China in fencing at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. His mother, Zhou Ping (also known as Sophia Chow), was part of China's bronze medal-winning women's gymnastics team at the 1984 Olympics. She also finished seventh in the individual all-around event and fifth in the vault final.
The 32-year-old followed in his father's footsteps and took up fencing at a young age. A member of Hong Kong's fencing team, he won several junior titles and was considered a potential prospect for the Olympics. His elder brother Winston was also involved in gymnastics before taking up rugby.
However, Jackson eventually chose music over sport. In 2010, he moved to South Korea after joining JYP Entertainment and later debuted as a member of GOT7 in 2014.HTC...
