Internet isn't sold on Prada's 'Made in India' Kohlapuris
India, April 29 -- After facing a massive wave of criticism online, Italian luxury brand Prada is attempting to make amends by launching a limited-edition line of "Made in India" sandals. The brand found itself in the middle of a social media firestorm last June after showcasing footwear that looked exactly like Kolhapuri chappals, describing them simply as "leather sandals".
The controversy was reignited yet again on Thursday as the brand announced its new edition, teaming up with Indian artisans to produce 2,000 pairs, priced at €750 (approx Rs.82,900).
Despite the credit, the internet isn't impressed. Their 'fix' is being called too little, too late. The criticism continues as Ralph Lauren also faced heat last week for using traditional Bandhani work without due credit. HTC...
