ith their engagement behind them, Sukriti and Shoumik are now looking ahead to their wedding, which is likely to take place next year. "We're going to take our own time and get into the headspace of planning because we are proper planners," Sukriti says. For her, the wedding also marks a special family milestone: "This is the last wedding in my family because I'm the last sister to be married. So we'll hopefully do something beautiful."
The singer admits she was once "scared" of how marriage might affect her career, but her perspective has since changed. "When I was in my 20s, I used to think, what if my marriage would affect my work? But I just turned 31, and I feel like this is a milestone. Now I don't think it takes anything away; it only adds," she says, adding, "What's really important is having somebody who understands your work and lets you be you. I love that about Shoumik because he just supports me in any crazy idea I might have."
On her wedding look, Sukriti says she has always envisioned herself as a bride in red. "It's just something that I have always seen for myself. My sister Akriti (Kakar, singer-composer) got married in January this year, and she had always said, 'I'm the neutral bride, and you're the red bride.' So, that space was always left for me," she ends....
