For the first time, I was objectified: Abhishek Banerjee on Lust Stories 3
India, Oct. 3 -- Actor Abhishek Banerjee experienced an unusual first while filming his recent release, Lust Stories 3. "For the first time, I have been objectified, that too with Radhika (Apte, co-star) and it felt great," he says. The actor stars alongside Apte and Konkona Sensharma in Vikramaditya Motwane's segment, which follows two women are considering swapping partners with their husbands in an attempt to spruce up their marital and sex lives.
The story's frank approach, Banerjee says, appealed to him. "When I was in college, I would always wonder why people don't talk about sex more openly, about their desires and needs," he says, recalling biology lessons in school, where teachers and students alike grew awkward when the chapter on reproduction came up. "I think being direct is really cool. And Gen Z is doing it very well. They are very vocal about whatever they want and need," Banerjee says.
The 41-year-old credits some of this change also to millennial parents, who are taking a direct approach with their children. "I keep seeing this around my relatives and friends. It's opening up at least in the metros," he says, adding, "If this continues, hopefully India will change over the period of next 10 years."...
