Delhi welcomes global 'peace dog' Aloka
India, June 10 -- Aloka, a four-year-old Indian Pariah dog that became known for accompanying Buddhist monks on peace walks, was welcomed in Delhi on Monday after spreading 'paw-sitivity' across the world.
The dog, identified by a heart-shaped marking on its forehead, joined a 112-day pilgrimage from Kolkata to Bodh Gaya and Nepal in 2022. He was later adopted by monk Bhikkhu Pannakara, the leader of the delegation from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center. Since then, Aloka has travelled with Buddhist delegations to countries including the US, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The delegation was welcomed at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts on Monday, as it prepares to launch a new peace walk across India.
