India, June 12 -- T he teaser of YRF Spy Universe's Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol, suddenly dropped on Wednesday. But within hours, fans were drawing comparisons between the female-led spy thriller and the 1990 French classic La Femme Nikita, sparking a plagiarism debate online. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the teaser shows Bobby Deol's character taking his daughter, played by Alia, to a restaurant on her 18th birthday before assigning her first kill. Viewers pointed to similarities with a scene from La Femme Nikita, in which Tcheky Karyo's character takes Anne Parillaud's Nikita to an upscale restaurant before handing her a gun and ordering her to eliminate targets. Some viewers also argued that the teaser's wolf-and-sheep analogy echoed a well-known dialogue from Clint Eastwood's American Sniper (2014). "Alpha didn't copy #AmericanSniper; it just got a little too inspired by it," read one post.
