Aamir Khan, the latest Bollywood star to allegedly receive Bishnoi threat
India, July 19 -- A
ctor Aamir Khan has reportedly received a death threat allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, becoming the latest Bollywood celebrity to be targeted amid a series of threats to film personalities in recent months.
The alleged threat surfaced through a social media post and a voice clip. The post was reportedly shared by Arzu Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi, said to be associates of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. It accused Aamir of promoting "love jihad" following his recent marriage to Gauri Spratt and warned him of consequences.
"We promise our brothers, sisters, and fellow citizens that whoever promotes such disgraceful acts will be dealt with in our own way. Those who are encouraging this in the name of stardom will be silenced," the post read.
Aamir and his team had not filed a formal complaint at the time of going to press. When contacted, officials at Bandra Police Station told us that since the actor was outside India and had not deputed anyone to file a complaint on his behalf, they could not comment on the matter.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti later told us that the police were examining the veracity of the social media post and voice clip. There is no official confirmation yet of their authenticity or any verified connection with the Bishnoi gang.
