India, Oct. 5 -- Amid growing concerns over women's safety in India, voices from across the country are calling for greater accountability and change. Actor Vijay Varma, who recently starred in Lust Stories 3, says men need to step back and create spaces where women could speak openly about their experiences and concerns, without fear of judgement. "Men just need to get out of the way. The problem is that they think they have a say in it. They should let women express what they want without judging them, mocking them, or making them feel inferior," he says. The gap, Varma says, stems largely from a lack of awareness at home. "Nobody's telling men what to do. It starts at home, but there they are 'my raja beta ', and that is a problem. If a girl is talking online about her period pain or whatever, you'll see a lot of boys commenting on it. But it's not your world, it's not your issue and you don't understand it," he shares, reiterating, "I feel the best service you can do as a man is to let women express themselves and learn from them and hear them out." At a recent event, Varma was jokingly labelled the 'biggest red flag on screen' by the host, content creator Dolly Singh, in reference to his morally grey roles in projects such as Darlings (2022) and the web show Dahaad. A clip from the interaction later surfaced on social media, with many pointing out that the actor appeared bothered by the comment. Addressing the label, he simply says, "I just want a different colour. I'm sick of this red flag-green flag."...
