Sri Lanka, July 31 -- Three youths arriving on motorcycles have stabbed a 17-year-old youth who was flying kites in a paddy field behind his house in Kadawatha, according to Kadawatha police.

The injured youth is currently receiving treatment at Ragama Hospital with neck injuries from the stabbing.

Kadawatha Police apprehended the primary suspect and two companions linked to the incident.

Police stated that a love affair has triggered the assault.

Villagers have managed to capture the one who stabbed and handed him over to authorities, while the two individuals fleeing by motorcycle surrendered to Kadawatha police to effect their arrest.

Reports indicate that the father of the stabbing suspect serves as a police officer.
