Sri Lanka, Nov. 1 -- A young man tragically lost his life after drowning while bathing in the Kalu Ganga in Kalutara alongside his friends, according to the Kalutara South Police.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Uggalboda area in Kalutara, who worked at a garment factory in Waskaduwa.

Police stated that the youth had arrived at the river with two friends.

While his friends chose to remain on the bank without entering the water, the young man went in for a swim.

Upon witnessing him suddenly submerge and disappear beneath the surface, his companions quickly alerted a nearby Navy camp.

Naval lifesavers deployed rapidly to the scene, managed to locate the drowning youth, and pulled him ashore. He was rushed immediat...
