Sri Lanka, July 30 -- A 22-year-old man has drowned while swimming near an estuary in Gintota, Galle, last afternoon (29).

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Cinnamon Gardens.

Local residents, Navy divers, and the police jointly conducted a search operation for the young man after he disappeared in the water.

Navy divers later located his body and brought it ashore.

The body has been transferred to the Galle National Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Galle Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
