Sri Lanka, June 29 -- The Ruwanwella Magistrate's Court ordered the Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Division of the Yatiyantota Police Station to be remanded in custody until June 30.

This order follows his arrest in connection with the disappearance of his official service firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition.

The officer took a pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition issued to him when departing for duties on June 26.

Investigations subsequently revealed that he failed to return the firearm and ammunition upon completing his duties.

Officers of the Seethawakapura Division Crimes Investigation Bureau arrested the suspect yesterday (27) following the serious situation regarding the missing service weapon.
