Sri Lanka, June 21 -- World Father's Day falls today (21).

In many countries, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June each year.

Reports indicate that this observance began in the United States around 1910.

By 1916, then US President Woodrow Wilson had recognised it as an important commemorative day.

Meanwhile, some countries also celebrate Father's Day on November 19.

In our culture-based society, respecting parents is considered an integral part of life.
