Sri Lanka, May 25 -- Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Indrajith Buddhadasa has ordered the release of National Freedom Front leader and former minister Wimal Weerawansa on two surety bails of Rs. 500,000 each after he was arrested and produced before the Court this morning (25) by Thalangama Police over an alleged incident of obstructing a Ranaviru commemoration rehearsal event.

The further inquiry into the case has been scheduled to be taken up again on August 25.

According to the Police, the former minister, along with a group of others, had gone to the location during a rehearsal for a Ranaviru commemoration event on May 18, and allegedly acted as members of an unlawful assembly and obstructed the duties of police officers. He was subsequen...
