Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- Police have requested the leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF), former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, to return and provide a statement to the Tangalle Police today (October 12).

However, former Minister Weerawansa informed Hiru News that he has notified the police that he is unable to attend today but will appear on a future date.

Meanwhile, former Minister Wimal Weerawansa announced that he would file a complaint with the National Police Commission (NPC) and pursue legal action regarding the alleged distortion and public disclosure of the statement he provided to the Tangalle Division Criminal Investigation Unit concerning the political connections of the individual known as 'Puwakdandawe Sana'.
