Sri Lanka, June 20 -- The absorption of multipurpose officers and civil defence officers into the wildlife conservation services is currently underway to strengthen the conservation programme, and whilst the increased workforce allows tasks to be carried out efficiently, this integration must not happen in a way that disadvantages the positions and salaries of the 800 officers who previously performed and continue to perform an excellent service under this Act, says Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.

The Opposition Leader stated this during a discussion held with wildlife officers to discuss the issues that emerged in the wildlife sector.
