Sri Lanka, Sept. 23 -- A customs wharf clerk, who allegedly accepted a bribe of nearly Rs. 1.045 million from a businessman to clear a container imported from a foreign country, has been remanded until the 30th. Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order today (23).
The order to remand the suspect was made after the Bribery Commission informed the court that it needed to record statements from several Sri Lanka Customs officers regarding the incident.
The remanded suspect has been identified as Ajith Aruna, a businessman residing in the Horana area.
