Sri Lanka, Oct. 4 -- Police said they are preparing to record statements from the relatives and associates of Aruna Vidanagamage, alias "Kajja," over the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

Police confirmed that the decision to expand the scope of the investigation is based on new information revealed by Kajja's wife.

Thajudeen's body was found inside his car near Park Road, Narahenpita, on 17 May 2012.

Although initially ruled an accident, the case was reopened in 2015 following a complaint from his family to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who alleged it was a murder.
