Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- The Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Division at the Walapane Kirthibandarapura Police, who was presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court in connection with a bribery incident, has been further remanded until the 29th of this month.
The police sergeant who was ordered to be further remanded is identified as Police Sergeant Galahenage Saman Kumara.
The order was issued today (18) when the magisterial inquiry into the incident was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayathunga.
The suspect is accused of accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a lorry driver to avoid legal action for transporting more sand cubes than permitted by his license.
