Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- Member of Parliament and President's Counsel Faiszer Musthapha has stressed the need for immediate diplomatic and legal intervention to save the life of Sivarasa Anojan, a Sri Lankan youth facing the death penalty in Saudi Arabia.

While respecting the sovereignty and legal framework of Saudi Arabia, Musthapha said that taking all possible legal and humanitarian measures on behalf of a Sri Lankan citizen must be the top priority at this stage.

He noted that the Sri Lankan Embassy has not yet received the official written copy of the Saudi court judgment, and urged the authorities to obtain the document without delay in order to fully understand the legal basis of the ruling.
