Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- Train operations along the Main Line section between Rambukkana and Gampola returned to normal, following repairs to damage caused by Cyclone "Ditwah."

The Department of Railways confirmed that collaborative restoration efforts involving the National Building Research Organisation and the Department's Way and Works Sub-Department rendered the track safe for traffic.

Normal train schedules between Colombo Fort, Peradeniya, and Gampola resume on the afternoon of October 2.
