Sri Lanka, March 12 -- The Kandy Magistrate's Court ordered a five-day detention for a university student arrested with quantities of hashish and kush in the Peradeniya area.

Police took the third-year Arts faculty student into custody on the 23rd at the Sir Ivor Jennings hostel with the assistance of university discipline officers.

During the raid, officials discovered 85.260 grams of hashish and 11.210 grams of kush in his possession.

The 24-year-old suspect, a resident of Hokandara, allegedly consumed the substances and sold them to fellow students.

Investigators also seized Rs. 70,240.00 in cash, suspected to be earnings from illegal sales. Peradeniya Police are conducting further inquiries into the matter.
