Sri Lanka, Nov. 4 -- Formal investigations will be carried out by the University Grants Commission (UGC) into the alleged misconduct involving a Wayamba University lecturer and a female student inside the lecturer's hostel.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated this yesterday (3) while attending the official handover ceremony of the Kuliyapitiya National College of Education for Technology to the government.

Following the ceremony, a group of students, including the current University Student Council Chairman, arrived to lodge a complaint about the incident. The Prime Minister met with two of the students, allowing them to provide both written and verbal accounts of the event.
