Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- Galle's Udugama area recorded the island's highest rainfall of 132.5 mm in the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 AM today (20), as active South-West monsoon conditions continue to bring heavy showers across several regions.

According to the Department of Meteorology, Batuwangala and the Dellawa tea factory area in the Neluwa Divisional Secretariat Division also recorded 126.5 mm of rain each.

The department stated that heavy showers exceeding 100 mm could occur in fairly localised places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
