Sri Lanka, July 26 -- The four suspects, including two police sergeants, arrested over the killing of a pregnant deer in the Heenuggala forest reserve in Galewela, Makulugaswewa, have been remanded until August 1.

This order was given today after the suspects were produced before the Dambulla Acting Magistrate.

Police also presented three 12-bore firearms, suspected to have been used in the shooting, to the court.

A post-mortem examination on the deceased deer revealed that it was shot with a 12-bore firearm.

Dambulla Assistant Superintendent of Police M.M. Chandrasiri confirmed that disciplinary action would be taken against the two arrested police officers.
