Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- The carcasses of two elephants have been found in a chena land in the Pahagahapuwa Wewa area of Kahatagasdigiliya.
Police say both elephants were shot and killed.
The carcasses were discovered yesterday (9).
One elephant was a female, about 8 years old, and the other was a 4-year-old male.
According to police, the female elephant died about 15 days ago, while the male elephant died about a month and a half ago.
The wildlife veterinary officer for Pandulawewa, Anuradhapura, confirmed that both elephants had gunshot wounds.
