Sri Lanka, Oct. 21 -- The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has reported two fatalities due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions affecting several parts of Sri Lanka.

The most severely impacted districts include Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Galle, and Kegalle, with 583 people affected.

One confirmed death occurred in Peradeniya, where a 53-year-old resident, Suriyagoda, was buried under an earth embankment while walking near a canal during heavy rain.

Assistant Director of the DMC, Pradeep Kodippili, confirmed the total fatalities as two.

The Deduru Oya and Mahaweli River basins are currently at risk of flooding.
