Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- A man who arrived to throw a parcel of narcotics into the female inmates' ward of the Welikada Prison was arrested.

This was during an operation carried out based on information received by intelligence officers of the Police Special Bureau attached to the Sahaspura Police Station.

The suspect attempted to flee during the arrest, and 250 grams of ICE, 150 grams of heroin, 100 grams of tobacco, a mobile phone, a SIM card, and an electronic scale were found in his possession.

Interrogations of the suspect revealed that he attempted to throw the narcotics parcel into the prison to hand it over to a woman known as 'Thotalanga Poddi', said to be a powerful drug trafficker.
