Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- The Nawalapitiya Police arrested two suspects today (08) for allegedly breaking and stealing gold-plated "Urna Roma" located on the forehead of the Buddha statues across several temples. The arrests follow a string of complaints lodged with the Nawalapitiya Police regarding similar thefts in the region.
The investigation was launched after the chief incumbent of the Ketapulawa Temple in Nawalapitiya filed a complaint stating that two individuals arriving in a three-wheeler had damaged a Buddha statue.
Using CCTV footage obtained from the temple premises, officers were able to track down and apprehend the suspects.
