Sri Lanka, April 29 -- Officers involved in the disappearance of $2.5 million from the government treasury will face responsibility for repayment if the funds are not recovered.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe shared this stance while addressing media inquiries, noting that an investigation involving international agencies is already underway.
The loss came to light after an Australian creditor notified Sri Lankan authorities that a scheduled loan installment went unreceived.
Speaking at the Luxury Travel Fair yesterday (28), the Deputy Minister expressed confidence in recovering the missing amount.
