Transport, agriculture brace for fuel price impact
Sri Lanka, June 1 -- Several sectors, particularly transport and agriculture, expect a significant impact from the latest fuel price increase that came into effect yesterday (31), with industry representatives warning of rising operating costs and potential price increases.
Private bus operators decided to seek a 5% increase in fares following the diesel price hike. Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) President Gemunu Wijeratne stated that operators currently hold the right to seek an overall fare revision based on 12 distinct factors.
