Train operations on the Main Line disrupted after derailment
Sri Lanka, May 16 -- A passenger train operating from Polgahawela to Kalutara South derailed between Kelaniya and Wanawasala railway stations, according to the Railway Department.
The train, identified as service number 507, reportedly experienced a derailment when one of its coaches left the tracks and overturned onto the railway line.
The department confirmed that the incident caused a partial obstruction on the main railway route, disrupting train services along the line.
It is further reported that passengers were inside the overturned carriage at the time of the incident.
