Sri Lanka, July 27 -- A three-wheeler travelling from Dimbulapathana to Hatton veered off the road and plunged into the Devon Canal, severely injuring its driver.

Police stated that the incident occurred due to a sudden mechanical fault in the front wheel of the trishaw, which was travelling at high speed.

The driver was the sole occupant of the trishaw at the time of the incident.

The injured driver has been admitted to Kotagala Hospital.

Dimbulpathana Police are conducting further investigations.
