Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- The Director-General of the National Zoological Gardens, Dehiwala, Dr R. C. Rajapaksha, reports that a complaint has been lodged with the Dehiwala Police regarding the theft of 32 pigeons from the zoo.
The theft is reported to have occurred Saturday night (4).
Dr. Rajapaksha stated that the pigeons were stolen after the cage holding the birds was broken open.
He also pointed out that these specific birds were being kept at the Dehiwala Zoo as case-production items under a court order.
Dehiwala Police say that so far, no information has been revealed concerning the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen pigeons.
Dehiwala Police are reported to have launched a special investigation into the matter.
