Tax system set for simplification next year
Sri Lanka, Oct. 2 -- The tax system will be simplified and made more user-friendly next year, with plans to remove taxes other than customs duty and implement systematic structural changes, according to Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nishantha Jayawira.
The Deputy Minister shared these remarks while joining the official launch ceremony of the digital signature and paperless customs declaration system.
Similar simplified procedures will be adopted across other institutions, and the integration of information technology systems into these organisations will be accelerated, he noted.
Highlighting the milestone, the Deputy Minister stated that today marks a special landmark in the two-century history of customs.
