Sri lanka, Nov. 4 -- The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, addressed a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, urging immediate diplomatic action with the Sri Lankan Government to secure the release of all detained fishermen from Tamil Nadu and their fishing boats.

Stalin highlighted the recent detention of 35 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Karaikal by the Sri Lankan Navy, stating they were apprehended for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in Sri Lankan waters. The arrests included four fishermen aboard a country boat from Ramanathapuram District and 31 fishermen on three mechanized boats from Nagapattinam.
