Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Investigations have revealed suspicions that the murder of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekara, also known as 'Midigama Lasa', was masterminded by 'Midigama Ruwan', who is currently detained at Boossa Prison.

Police sources indicate that the killing may have been linked to two main incidents - the discovery of four T56 firearms by the Police Special Task Force (STF) during a raid in Ibbawala, Weligama, on September 24, and an assault carried out by the Chairman on individuals loyal to Midigama Ruwan. The firearms were found in the home of one of Ruwan's relatives, who, along with his wife, was arrested. Investigations revealed that the weapons belonged to Ruwan.
