Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery of gold jewellery worth around Rs 6 million, police said.

The arrests were made yesterday (27) in Kiribathgoda by officers of the Western Province North Crimes Division, during investigations into the incident.

The robbery had taken place on September 20 in Ganemulla, where a man was assaulted and his jewellery stolen.

The suspects, aged 17 and 20, are residents of Kandaliyedepaluwa in Ganemulla. Police recovered two pieces of gold - one weighing 121.350g and another 17.015g - believed to have been melted down from the stolen jewellery.

The Western Province North Crimes Division is continuing further investigations.
