Sri Lanka, April 18 -- A suspect connected to a social media video showing a woman being brutally attacked with a broomstick is in remand custody until the 24th of this month.

The Police Media Spokesperson's office stated that the individual was produced before the Horana Magistrate's Court following his arrest yesterday (17).

The video circulating on social media showed the man attacking the woman because the sound of firecrackers disturbed the dogs at his home.

Police arrested the 54-year-old suspect, a resident of the Valmilla area in Horana, following an investigation into the footage.
