Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- Police have seized a large consignment of heroin and 'ice' (crystal methamphetamine) valued at over 7 million rupees following a special raid in the Weligama and Midigama areas.

The raid was carried out based on a tip-off received by the Police, resulting in the arrest of one suspect who was in possession of the narcotics.

Police stated that the suspect has been engaged in the drug trade for a long time.

Based on statements obtained from him, the Police have commenced inspecting several other locations in connection with the operation.
